Queensland Weekender
Filmed on 03/05/2007
The Channel 7 Programme QLD Weekender visited the Village
to film a segment for their
popular programme which goes to air every Saturday at 5.30pm.
They filmed for approx. 3 1/2 hours which will probably be edited to 3 1/2
minutes.
We invited the residents of Golden Shores Retirement Village to be our visitors
on the day as it was not a normal opening day for us.
Many of our volunteers dressed in the clothing of the late 1800s to add to the
atmosphere.
Getting Harold into long strides was a mammoth task, ask Hazel.
The 19th Century re enactment group also joined us for the first time and
demonstrated
spinning and weaving at the slab cottage.
Les Smith had "Radish" running along our track and Rob Smith ferried visitors in
the tractor/trailer.
Harold demonstrated the broad axe squaring off a log.
Ken had "Ralph" running (International Harvester 3HP)
Mick the blacksmith and Brian the wood turner also demonstrated their skills.
The Australian Scroll Saw Network opened their section specially for the day.
Around 50 visitors turned up and really added to the excitement of a film shoot.
For many, it was the first time they had seen such an event.
Dean was his usual charming self, entertaining his audience with stories of past
programmes etc.
while Paul and Adam got on with the technical side of the day.
For us this is a milestone as we are always trying to project the image of our
Village to
a wider audience as well as to our Bay residents.
Morning tea was provided by our ladies and enjoyed by all, especially Paul who
I am sure
sampled
something from every plate.
Congratulations to all our volunteers who make the Village the success it has
become.
Expected to go to air sometime later this month or early June.
